Winding Down – Spring 2010

We can’t believe that this semester is almost over!  Most of the universities here in Pittsburgh are finished with classes and finals in just a few weeks!  We are wrapping campus ministry up for the semester with men’s and women’s retreats and our annual Fellowship Dinner.  We had a great time of prayer & worship with some student leaders a few weeks ago and are helping our students think through plans for the Fall semester.

As we transition into the summer, we are spending significant time with our students helping them think through how they will “survive” the summer.  Summer is a prime time for students to struggle in their walks with Jesus because they are away from the community that gives them so much life.  We encourage our students to take a few weeks to go on a Summer Project where there’s a “spiritual growth greenhouse” environment – consistent bible study, ministry training and tools and tons of fun – in different locations in the US & abroad.  We have several students going to serve the Lord at a camp for inner-city kids in Colorado as well as Botswana, Africa.  Please pray for our students to connect with a consistent community that will help them grow through this summer!

As you know, every summer get an assignment – last summer we took Missional Team Leader’s Training course.  This summer, we’ll be at home in Pittsburgh so we can raise support and do a lot of preparing to lead our team to Australia (we’ll leave at the end of December).  We are so excited, because in addition to this, Jason has been given the opportunity to write a book with a staff guy named Roger Hershey.  “Hersh,” as he’s known throughout the country, has been on staff for 30 years and is passionate about communicating biblical truth, especially about eternal perspective and finishing the Great Commission.  Over this last year, Jason has identified and embraced his skill in communicating via writing and asked Hersh to partner with him to write a book about this generation being the one to finish the Great Commission, if the Lord would have it.  We’re excited for this unique chance to do something that he doesn’t normally get to do!

Hannah Update

Hannah had her first trip to the beach this month with me (Maria) and her nonna (grandmother in Italian).  It was a great trip and she had a blast on the beach, in the ocean and the pool.  She picked up lots of sea shells and built beautiful castles!  We have a trip coming up in August to Ocean City, NJ with some close friends so this was great preparation for her!  She’s growing in leaps and bounds!  If you are on Facebook, please feel free to check out my page because I upload lots of photos/videos of Hannah talking and dancing and laughing.

We hope you are encouraged to see what God is doing, because without YOU we wouldn’t be able to do what  we do so that others could do what they’re doing.  Thank you for your partnership!

for His glory,

Jason & Maria
