RADIATE09

Happy New Year!  As many of you know, we get to bring in the New Year with students and staff from the Mid-Atlantic Region every year at our annual RADIATE conference.  This was our first year having this conference at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, MD.  It was great as about 900 students converged to hear teaching about radiating Jesus’ life.  There was high-energy worship, a chance for students to process some important decisions about their future, and for our day of faith we packed about 300 boxes of seed packets for the hungry in Africa.

We get to take a more administrative role at the conference, which is really fun!  We enjoy doing something different as we serve the Lord and students than our normal campus stuff for the day.  Jason is the main meeting director (he implements all the plans for the way the meeting runs) and Maria was able to assist the hotel liaison.  It was a great time for us too to see our friends and students as they met with Jesus!

We wanted you to hear how some of our students’ lives were directly affected by Jesus at RADIATE09, because that is what’s most exciting for us!  We are so excited for another year to trust and walk with Jesus.  We’re hoping to take steps of faith and to experience His grace as we help students know how great He is!  Thanks for continuing to walk through this journey of ministry with us!!

There is just NO better way to close out one year and begin the next than worshiping our God! I think that was probably my favorite part about RADIATE–getting to start 2010 by focusing on the things and The One who really matters. One thing God spoke to me about during the conference was faith. I realized how often I tend to rely on logic and reason in my decision-making and everyday life. What I learned is that we will never know what true faith in Christ looks like until we put ourselves in a position where we NEED Him to show up!  – Allison, junior @ Pitt

This was my first year going to Radiate and after going I now see why people get so pumped about it!  One of the biggest things that God brought to my attention during the trip is the fact that He wants my whole day to be focused around Him, and not just when I’m at a conference.  I was reminded of the wholeness that comes with a day that starts with God, something that I had recently lost touch with.  This semester I’ve begun meeting Him every morning before I do anything else, and it has completely changed my outlook on my whole day.  – Tom, sophomore @ Pitt

At RADIATE, I was reminded of what it means to truly love the Lord. Its not about emotions so much as it is about commitment, and when you devote your time, your money, and your goals to the Lord and stay committed to Him, He will bring back that “first love” experience. I feel like I finally really know what it means to love my God, and I’ve never been more excited about it.  – Pete, sophomore @ Pitt

for His glory,

Jason & Maria
